Mad Rocke
My name is Peter Rocke. I’ve had a “Need for Speed” for as long as I can remember.
The Mad part comes from my Scottish mother and my German father.
My love of motorcycles started early in my life growing up in Tasmania. At the age of 13 I was riding a dirt bike around the hills and to and from school. I had many fast escapes on many occasions.
I moved to Western Australia in 1986 for my work and since then I have owned numerous bikes from Harley Niterods, Pan Americans to Soft Tails, Vmax, BMWs & Honda’s.
The H2R is my dream bike. I bought it in 2023. As it’s not a road bike, I’m limited to where I can test ride it, trial it and get the feel for it.
My first real racing experience with my H2R was at the Maralinga Mile in South Australia in October 2024. This was the inaugural meet at this unique location.
Maralinga is famous as a previous nuclear testing site by the English in the 1970’s. The land at Maralinga has been handed back to the Nations First People. The week I spent out there was a magnificent experience: doing speed trials, meeting other people with the same passion. The Aboriginal children were so excited and welcoming to their visitors from the “city”, and to experience a whole new form of entertainment. They all sat on and rev tuned the H2R and I left them with great memories, stickers and chewing gum!
I am preparing now to take the H2R to Lake Gairdner in South Australia in March 2025. This is the Dry Lake Racing Annual Meet. People come from all across Australia and the world with their trucks, cars and bikes to attempt world records. I’m hoping to achieve 200 mile per hour, receive the hat and chase the 213 mile per hour world record in my class of 1000 cc Super Charged Motor Cycles.
